Night vision monoculars for naturalists and hunters

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Outdoorsmen who already have binoculars and/or rifle scopes for daytime use might next want to get night vision monoculars for evening use. Night vision equipment similar to that used by the US military can be obtained by the general public, for example the AN-PVS 14. “AN-PVS” stands for Army/Navy Portable Visual Search”. It can be added to a head harness for hands-free use and it can also be utilized as a night sight for a rifle, which should appeal to hunters.

Night vision equipment greatly enhances what you can see in the evening, but the quality and clarity of vision at night is not as good as what is obtained during the daytime with normal monocular or binocular equipment.
